A builders merchant will be found in any sizeable town. The average builders merchant will be able to supply nearly anything that is currently available but not necessarily out of his stock. Generally, a restricted range of proprietary products is available over the counter, and standard builders and plumbers materials are of course always to […]
If the room has one window only, there shall be a minimum zone of open space outside the window such as to leave adjacent to the window an upright shaft of space wholly open to the sky, the base of the shaft being formed by a plane inclined upwards at an angle of 30 degrees […]
It is only fairly recently that much thought seems to have gone into the design of proprietary bathroom cabinets. We are all familiar with the old metal cabinet with a mirror on the door and strange little metal catches. Nowadays, however, melamine-faced wooden cabinets are readily available and, with the development of plastics, there are […]
Locks, door handles, window catches, hat and coat hooks are probably the most relevant ones to the planning of your bathroom storage. This is a trade where tradition and craftsmanship still play an important part; good locks are still largely handmade, while door handles vary from the cheapest aluminium or plastics to bronze or good […]

The qualities to look […]
Bathrooms are often small rooms. Not all, of course. Some people can revel in the luxurious space of a room in an old house which has been converted to make a bathroom, and there is even the occasional modern house or flat where an unwanted amount of square footage has been lavished on the bathroom. […]

This is when you will want to investigate the existing plumbing and pipe runs in order to assess the possibilities. Anything is possible. It existing water pipes enter […]
lt is a good idea when you are replanning your room to make a scale drawing of the size and shape available. Cut out shapes of the equipment you want to fit in and work out in this basic way whether it is all feasible. Several manufacturers brochures contain scale cut-outs of their wares, which […]
lf the job you have in mind is a completely new bathroom, albeit a small one, you are not nearly so constrained by existing facilities, though again you must consider with the help of a scale drawing the sizes of the various pieces of equipment you want to get in. And again it will be […]
