If the room has one window only, there shall be a minimum zone of open space outside the window such as to leave adjacent to the window an upright shaft of space wholly open to the sky, the base of the shaft being formed by a plane inclined upwards at an angle of 30 degrees to the horizontal from the wall at the lower window level and its sides coinciding with the following four vertical planes :
