Our History Since 1984
From a modest plumbers merchant in Gosport to a 2,000 sq ft luxury showroom, the story of Paramount Collection is one of passion, craftsmanship and a relentless commitment to exceeding our customers' expectations. For over four decades we have been helping Hampshire homeowners create spaces they love — beautifully designed bathrooms, kitchens and bedrooms that stand the test of time.
Our Journey
Four Decades of Excellence
We Are Founded
GPS was born in 1984 as a plumbers merchant called Gosport Plumbing Supplies, based in Gosport, Hampshire. There were only three members of staff, including the founder, Derek Doye. Although open to the public, we primarily served the trade and local building sites — the foundation of a business built on trust and reliability.
Progress
By 1997, our growth had attracted national attention. We were featured by the BBC as an outstanding example of independent retail success in the South. Our reputation for quality, personal service and stunning product ranges was spreading far beyond Hampshire.
Expanding
1999 was a landmark year as we expanded into kitchens and bedrooms, opening a dedicated showroom that let customers explore full room sets in person. Our growing team of expert designers began helping homeowners bring their visions to life, one bespoke project at a time.
Manufacturing
In 2001, we invested in our own manufacturing capabilities, giving us complete quality control from design to delivery. Crafting furniture directly allowed us to offer truly bespoke solutions tailored to every customer's space — a commitment to quality that remains central to everything we do today.
Brochures
2005 saw the launch of our first dedicated Paramount Collection brochure, bringing our bathroom furniture range to life with stunning photography and detailed product information. It marked the moment our brand identity crystallised — a clear, confident statement of who we are and what we stand for.
