A little preparation goes a long way. Take a few accurate measurements before you begin, then use our online planner to start shaping your room.
Before you start
Measure your room correctly

Measure wall to wall
Use a tape measure and record each wall in millimetres. Measure at floor level and again higher up in case the walls are not perfectly square.

Mark doors and windows
Note the width and height of every opening, plus its distance from the nearest corner. Include which way doors open.

Note fixed features
Mark radiators, pipes, sockets, boiler points, chimney breasts, alcoves and anything else that cannot be moved.

Check the room height
Record the floor-to-ceiling height and any bulkheads, sloping ceilings or boxed-in services that affect the available space.
Helpful tip: sketch the shape of your room and label each measurement as you go. It does not need to be to scale.
